TRAVEL: Iceland through photos

Iceland may have the smallest population of any NATO member, but that hasn’t stopped an increasing number of Americans from visiting the Nordic island in the North Atlantic. 332,529 populate the more than 40,000 sq mi (103,000 km2).  Over two-thirds of the citizens live in it’s capital city of Reykjavík, and the surrounding area in the southwest.

Whales of Iceland is a great location to learn more about whales. There are lifesize models there. Kids under 7 get in for free. It’s the largest whale exhibition in Europe. The purpose of the exhibition is to educate visitors about the “fragile and fascinating world of whales.” Photo: Reginald Johnson dolphins. The exhibition is a space where amateurs and connoisseurs alike can experience marine life at its greatest and explore more intimately the wild and extraordinary creatures we meet while whale watching.
