A warrant issued for sex trafficker, DC police says

DC Metropolitan Police has issued an arrest warrant for a local man involved in sex trafficking in the DC area.

Gary O’Neal Bell is wanted for “facilitating commercial sex for an underage female over a series of months,” according to a joint statement from the FBI Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Washington Field Office and the DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Officials say The 24-year-old stands 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. He has a cross tattoo under his right eye, brown eyes, black hair that may have been cut short and has a medium build. should be considered armed and dangerous.

Sex trafficking is a crime when women, men and/or children are forcefully involved in commercial sex acts. In the United States, any minor under the age of 18 engaged in commercial sex acts is automatically considered a victim of sex trafficking under the law. Worldwide, it’s estimated that there are 4.5 million victims of sex trafficking.

People who attempt to profit from this illegal act bait and enslave their victims – men and boys promised jobs overseas to work in construction and agriculture but are also forced to perform commercial sex acts, while women and young girls may be offered jobs as models, nannies, or waitresses.

In the United States sex trafficking involves three elements: the process, the means and the goal. The U.S. Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act defines sex trafficking as the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision or obtaining of an individual who under force, fraud or coercion is induced to perform a commercial sex act.

The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service are offering rewards of up to $2,000 for information that simply leads to the District man’s arrest. Law-enforcement officials ask anyone with information on Gary Bell’s whereabouts to call either the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force at 202-278-2000 or MPD at 202-727-9099. You can also submit a tip anonymously to tips.fbi.gov.
